On September 13, just before 11:00 p.m., Deputy Wilmer witnessed a scooter crash in the 8800 block of E. Florida Ave. Upon approaching the rider, 32-year-old Tay Von Argusta, to check for injuries and get him help, the deputy observed Argusta acting erratically and ignoring commands to sit on the curb.
As Argusta moved toward the crashed scooter, Deputy Wilmer noticed a handgun on the ground. When Argusta appeared to reach for the weapon, the deputy drew his service weapon and ordered him to the ground. Argusta ignored commands and fled into a nearby apartment complex. After a brief foot chase, he was subdued with a Taser and taken into custody.

Further investigation revealed that the scooter was reported stolen from Denver. Argusta, who had an active felony warrant for fraud, was booked into the Arapahoe County Jail on a no-bond hold. He now faces additional charges, including:

 Motor Vehicle Theft

 Obstructing a Peace Officer

 Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

 Possession of a Controlled Substance

 Violation of a Protection Order

 Failure to Appear
