We know Dana Beal from the cannabis movement, and now he is hard at work getting Ibogaine some attention as a medicine. When we ask Dana for a bio on his activism, here is how he describes himself:
"I did the first smoke-in in 1967. Led marches for cannabis liberation every year on the first Saturday of May since 1973. Took it global with the Worldwide Marijuana March in response to Giuliani crackdown in '99, soon reaching 320 Cities globally. Originated ibogaine to cure hard drug addiction to discredit the so-called Gateway Effect in 1980--and now it's replacing methadone/suboxone, curing Parkinsons, healing traumatic brain injury. Of course, now I'm facing a year in Idaho Prison for weed--all while we're ready to flood NYC with ibogaine from our secret Black Panther Ibogaine Lab in Ghana..."

"Perennial activist, New York Yippie and frequent cannabis activist Dana Beal has a plan to repay the state of Idaho for arresting him while he was allegedly transporting through the state. He wants to use his case to legalize marijuana in the state.
“You know what Idaho has?” Beal recently posed the question. “It has a tremendous problem with methamphetamine and fentanyl. And you know what helps people get off of those drugs? Cannabis and ibogaine.” He’s hoping to leverage his notoriety to bring attention to his novel approach and effect change in Idaho.
“Voters in Idaho are ripe and ready to legalize marijuana but they’re afraid that it could lead to other drugs,” he continued. “By combining a tax-and-legalize cannabis bill with Ibogaine treatments funded by that legalization tax, we have a whole package that can really win there.”
All of this takes makes sense but it also takes money, of course. His trial is set for November. A recent post on his page by Paul Stanford says that Dana Beal “is hopeful that cannabis will be rescheduled before then, which would downgrade the marijuana trafficking charges he faces.”
Dana thinks a nuanced, double-bladed approach will help people understand that “some drugs are safe, some are dangerous – and some actually reduce harms.” He described it as a win-win situation, with politicians able to ride the wave of public sentiment for cannabis legalization, provide treatment for people hooked on hard drugs and fund it with new revenue without raising existing taxes.
Dana was busted in Gooding County, Idaho, near Twin Falls, on January 15, 2024. He is charged with cannabis trafficking and not having an Idaho cannabis tax stamp and was held until March 9 and is out on $250,000 bail bond thanks to 2 people, an activist in Ohio and another in the District of Columbia, who signed to guarantee the bond."
