Sakiyna Thompson Claimed Self-Defense in Fatal Stabbing of Florida Woman

Sakiyna Thompson, a 31-year-old woman from Queens, New York, traveled to Tamarac, Florida, to confront her ex-boyfriend’s new girlfriend, 23-year-old Kayla Hodgson. During the encounter, Thompson fatally stabbed Hodgson, claiming she acted in self-defense after being attacked. Prosecutors argued the murder was premeditated, fueled by jealousy after Hodgson blocked Thompson on social media, and noted that Thompson attempted to clean the crime scene afterward. Thompson was convicted of first-degree murder and now faces a life sentence in prison.
