The Dyke Delta JD-2 is a four-seat monoplane with a triangular wing, created by American designer John Dyke in the 1960s. It became quite popular among a small circle of homebuilt aviation enthusiasts.

The airplane can only be built by oneself. Assembly kits were never produced—only blueprints for amateur builders. The construction time is 4000-5000 hours of work, including welding the steel frame. About 50 units of the aircraft have been built in total.

The airplane can reach speeds of about 270 km/h, and its flight range is an impressive 1400 km. Among the drawbacks are the difficulty of piloting and a high stall speed.

Unlike traditional airplanes, the Dyke Delta has a unique cockpit layout—one pilot sits in a separate seat at the front, while three passengers sit on a rear bench in a diamond-shaped cabin.

For convenient storage, the wing can be folded and placed over the fuselage. In the folded state, the airplane is only 2.4 m wide and can be stored in a regular garage or transported on a trailer.

In short, there will be something to do in retirement. 😆😆😆

Beautiful airplanes ✈️
