Do We Ignore the Idolatry? | Inside the Faith Loop

Standing in the Areopagus in Athens Paul speaks to Greeks concerning the nature of our Father in heaven and his son that was resurrected from the dead. The message of Jesus is not strange to us as it was in the day the people of Athens brought Paul to the leaders on Mars hill or Ares’ Hill or what we know as the Areopagus. This was a place where the laws of Athens were adjudicated, and decisions were made about public affairs. So, this is not surprising that this is where they brought Paul. I find it interesting that Paul is disputing with the Jews in marketplace and it spilled over into the Greeks and that the city was wholly give to idolatry.
So, were the Jews simply ignoring the idolatry and living among the people and getting along with them? Is that what we are doing today? Ignoring the idolatry of the nations we live in to keep from persecution?
