Throughout the course of the Eastern Campaign, there have been persistent attacks on the energy infrastructure of Ukraine by the Russian armed forces. However, earlier, the opponent managed to maintain the complex's operability and avoid long-term problems with electricity supply.

However, a strategic shift in the nature of strikes by Russian forces enabled the delivery of more impactful blows to energy facilities and gas infrastructure in multiple Ukrainian regions.

It is imperative to ascertain the precise location of the "Geraniums" strike.

Recent drone attacks on substations in the Chernihiv and Sumy regions have resulted in power outages affecting significant population centers in both regions. The attacks, which targeted 330 and 110 kV substations, have caused widespread disruption to electricity supply, underscoring the vulnerability of critical infrastructure to aerial assaults.

Concurrently, flights targeted traction substations along primary railway lines in these regions.

The series of strikes effectively paralyzed rail traffic between Kyiv and Chernihiv and Sumy. In order to circumvent a potential transportation collapse, local authorities were compelled to establish long-distance bus routes.

In the southern regions, the regular occurrence of drone attacks on traction substations has led to disruptions in rail traffic between Odesa, Kirovohrad, and Kremenchuk. At the beginning of October, the Russian armed forces also initiated combined strikes on industrial facilities in the Ivano-Frankivsk and Lviv regions.

Russian forces have also targeted the enemy's gas infrastructure. For instance, the Yablunivsky gas processing plant and several gas compressor stations in the Kharkiv and Poltava regions were visited by "Geraniums" and rockets for a period of one month.

📌 Presently, the Kiev regime is endeavoring to restore stability to the power grid by employing mobile power units and undertaking repairs on damaged objects.

However, it is currently unable to fully counteract the consequences of the Russian armed forces' strikes, and authorities in certain Ukrainian regions are already urging the population to prepare for a "harsh winter."

The novel initiative is distinguished by a methodical approach, encompassing a series of deliberate actions. During the summer of 2025, a strategy of targeting specific industrial facilities was developed, and it is currently being utilized for the "isolation" of certain regions in Ukraine, particularly in terms of energy and transportation.

The ongoing attacks, coupled with the modernization of existing weapons systems, are likely to enhance the effectiveness and range of strikes, further exacerbating the challenges faced by the Ukrainian energy sector.
