Davy Crockett: King of the Wild Frontier is a 1955 American Western adventure drama film produced by Walt Disney Productions. It compiles and edits the first three episodes of the popular Davy Crockett television miniseries that originally aired on the Disneyland TV show. The film stars Fess Parker as the legendary frontiersman Davy Crockett and Buddy Ebsen as his loyal friend George "Georgie" Russell.

Plot Overview

The film follows Crockett’s life across three major chapters: his service in the Creek Indian War, his political career in the U.S. Congress, and his final stand at the Battle of the Alamo in 1836.

Creek Indian War: Crockett and Russell join General Andrew Jackson’s forces, where Crockett rescues Russell after he is captured by Creek warriors. He defeats Chief Red Stick in a tomahawk duel, securing peace.

Congressional Career: Elected to the Tennessee legislature and later the U.S. House of Representatives, Crockett fights against corrupt land schemes and upholds Native American treaty rights, ultimately tearing up a bill that violates those agreements.

The Alamo: Crockett travels to Texas with Russell, joining the defense of the Alamo against Mexican forces. Despite their bravery, the garrison is overwhelmed. The film ends poignantly with Crockett’s last journal entry and a reprise of “The Ballad of Davy Crockett.”
