Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts is a classic 1991 side-scrolling action platformer known for its extreme difficulty.
The player controls the knight Arthur, who must rescue Princess Prin-Prin from the demon emperor Sardius. Gameplay is defined by its challenging, precise platforming and combat. Arthur's armor shatters after a single hit, leaving him vulnerable in his underwear. He can find and use a variety of magical weapons, but the infamous "Double Jump" has a fixed arc, making platforming even more demanding.
A notorious feature is that the game must be completed twice. After beating the final boss the first time, you must replay the entire game on a harder difficulty using a specific, hidden weapon to find the "real" ending and truly win.
