Madagascar's military appears on stage as colonel says it has taken power

Military police officers appeared on stage outside Antananarivo’s city hall on Tuesday (October 14), as Madagascar's military said it had taken charge of the Indian Ocean island. An army colonel made the announcement on Tuesday (October 14), after President Andry Rajoelina fled abroad during a standoff with youth-led protesters and security forces.
