Day 286 – Temptation, Teaching, and True Righteousness — Matthew 4–6 | Bible In A Year (CSB)

Jesus begins His public ministry with both testing and triumph. After resisting Satan’s temptations in the wilderness, He calls His first disciples and begins preaching the arrival of the Kingdom of Heaven. In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus flips worldly expectations—calling His followers to a righteousness deeper than rule-keeping and to a heart transformed by love for God and others.

Questions:
1. Jesus resists temptation by quoting Scripture. What does this teach us about the power of God’s Word in spiritual battles?

2. The Beatitudes describe the kind of people who are “blessed.” Which of these traits do you find most challenging or surprising, and why?

3. Jesus calls His followers the “salt of the earth” and the “light of the world.” How can these metaphors shape the way you live out your faith daily?
