The Snowflake Moray Eel (puhi-kapa), scientifically known as Echidna nebulosa. Its striking appearance features a white or pale-yellow body with black spots or blotches that resemble snowflakes. Native to the Indo-Pacific region, these eels inhabit coral reefs and rocky crevices at depths up to 50 meters.

They can grow up to 1 meter in length and have a flatish body. Their mouth is filled with blunt teeth designed for crushing hard-shelled prey like crabs and sea urchins. They are nocturnal hunters, relying on their excellent sense of smell to locate food, as they have relatively poor eyesight.

While it is less aggressive towards people, it can still deliver a painful bite if threatened or provoked.
