How Does Allah Support His Prophets According to the Quran
Assalamu Alaikum sisters, brothers, friends and elders:
We welcome you to Statement Number 55 in our series of statements. We will explain in it that: (How Does Allah Support His Prophets According to the Quran ), our aim is to learn and teach from the Quran and Sunnah, reflect on history and seek solutions to problems with divine guidance.
The Quran, the final revelation of Allah, not only brings guidance for humanity but also sheds light on the lives and struggles of the Prophets, peace be upon them all. One of the recurring themes in the Quran is the way Allah supports His Prophets during their trials, missions, and challenges. The Prophets were sent as messengers to guide their nations, often facing rejection, hostility, and persecution. Despite the difficulties, Allah always stood by them, granting them strength, miracles, protection, and eventual victory. This divine support is a reminder to the believers that Allah never abandons His chosen servants and that truth ultimately prevails over falsehood.
The Quran emphasizes that Allah strengthens His Prophets with guidance and wisdom. In Surah Al-Anam verse 89, Allah says, Those are the ones to whom We gave the Scripture and authority and prophethood. This verse shows that Prophets were not left on their own but were given divine knowledge and authority to carry out their mission. Their support came through revelation, which gave them clarity and certainty in their calling. This divine wisdom also enabled them to guide their followers in the best manner.
Another form of Allah’s support was the miracles given to His Prophets as proof of their truthfulness. For example, Prophet Musa was granted the staff that turned into a serpent and the ability to part the sea, as mentioned in Surah Ash-Shuara verse 63, Then We inspired to Moses, Strike with your staff the sea, and it parted, and each portion was like a great towering mountain. Such miracles were not acts of human power but divine support that confirmed their prophethood and silenced their opponents. Similarly, Prophet Isa, by the permission of Allah, healed the blind and the leper and gave life to the dead as mentioned in Surah Aal-e-Imran verse 49. These miracles were clear signs that Allah’s power accompanied His chosen ones.
Protection from enemies was another form of Allah’s support. The life of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, provides many examples. In Surah Al-Ma’idah verse 67, Allah reassures him, And Allah will protect you from the people. Despite numerous attempts by his enemies to harm him, the Prophet was always under divine protection until he completed his mission. Likewise, when Prophet Ibrahim was thrown into the fire by his people, Allah commanded the fire to lose its heat. Surah Al-Anbiya verse 69 says, We said, O fire, be coolness and safety upon Abraham. This incident shows that Allah’s support could transform even the most dangerous circumstances into safety.
Allah also supported His Prophets by granting them patience and firmness in the face of rejection. In Surah Al-Anam verse 34, Allah reminds, And certainly were messengers denied before you, but they patiently endured denial, and they were harmed until Our victory came to them. This verse demonstrates that patience was not only encouraged but divinely supported, as Allah’s help would eventually arrive. The support of Allah strengthened their hearts and gave them the resilience to continue their mission despite overwhelming opposition.
Victory over enemies is another way Allah supported His Prophets. The Quran repeatedly narrates how the disbelievers plotted against the messengers, but Allah overturned their schemes. In Surah Ghafir verse 51, Allah promises, Indeed, We will support Our messengers and those who believe during the life of this world and on the Day when the witnesses will stand. This divine assurance highlights that no matter how powerful the enemies appeared, the Prophets and the believers were destined to be victorious in the end, whether in this world or in the Hereafter.
The support of Allah was not limited to physical protection or miracles but also included spiritual comfort. In Surah Ta-Ha verse 46, Allah reassured Musa and Harun when they feared confronting Pharaoh, Do not fear. Indeed, I am with you both. I hear and I see. This verse reflects the closeness of Allah’s support, reminding the Prophets that His presence was with them at every moment, granting them confidence and inner peace.
The Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, was also reminded of this support in difficult times. During the migration to Madinah, when he and Abu Bakr were hiding in the cave, Allah revealed in Surah At-Tawbah verse 40, Do not grieve; indeed, Allah is with us. This powerful assurance reflects how Allah’s support calmed the Prophet’s companions and strengthened their trust in His plan.
The Hadith literature also confirms this divine support. In Sahih al-Bukhari Hadith number 3652, the Prophet Muhammad said, No one has been harmed more than I in the path of Allah. Despite this, his success and the spread of Islam across Arabia demonstrate Allah’s unwavering support. Similarly, in Sahih Muslim Hadith number 2791, the Prophet said, Allah will never forsake His Prophet. These narrations reinforce the Quranic message that Allah’s support accompanies His chosen messengers at every stage.
In conclusion, the Quran reveals that Allah supported His Prophets in numerous ways: through granting them wisdom and revelation, miracles that served as proof of their truthfulness, protection from enemies, patience in trials, spiritual reassurance, and ultimate victory over falsehood. Each story in the Quran highlights different dimensions of this support, serving as a source of inspiration for believers. Just as Allah never abandoned His Prophets, He also promises support to the sincere followers of truth. The stories of divine aid remind Muslims that challenges and hardships are part of the journey, but with patience, faith, and reliance on Allah, victory and success are guaranteed.
We conclude today's discussion with this humble supplication: O Allah, purify our hearts, accept our deeds, forgive our sins, and include us among Your grateful servants. Amen
