3 ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS BUSTED In ATM Heist—Chicago ICE Agents Still Facing Hostility

Three Venezuelan illegal immigrants living in Chicago were arrested in a Tri-State ATM theft investigation in Posey County, Indiana. Deputies responded just before 2:30 a.m. after an ATM alarm, deployed drones and K-9 units, and ultimately located and detained Marcos Daniel Rodriguez Sanchez, Deneiker Ramon Sanchez Bracho, and Edison J. Inozoa Navarro. Evidence of theft was found in the vehicle, and all three were booked into the Posey County Jail on theft charges, held without bond. Crane Credit Union confirmed there was no data breach of customer information from the incident. Sheriff Tom Latham condemned the arrests, calling them a stark example of what he termed “criminal illegal immigrants” harming community safety.

This arrest wave comes amid escalating civil unrest surrounding the ICE processing facility in Broadview, Illinois, just outside Chicago, where weekly protests have erupted — some descending into violent clashes between demonstrators and federal agents. In one recent weekend demonstration, authorities made 15 arrests amid chaotic scenes. Protesters allege use of tear gas, rubber bullets, and aggressive tactics by ICE, while local officials have decried the escalation. Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson condemned President Trump’s calls to imprison him and called the remarks “unstable” and a threat to democracy. Governor J.B. Pritzker denounced the federal deployment as part of an “authoritarian march,” and said he would wage legal opposition to the forced mobilization in Illinois.
