We keep seeing the same pattern: take a guy like Ed Gein — in reality a short, awkward, deeply disturbed dude — and cast someone like Charlie Hunnam: tall, conventionally handsome, charismatic. That choice isn’t innocent. It’s a marketing play. It turns monsters into movie stars so women and gay men online drool over them , even joking they wish they’d been victims. That’s grotesque.

These stories don’t need empathy for the killers. They need respect for the victims. The families of those murdered don’t need their killers romanticized for clicks and subscriptions.
