For the 2nd Episode of Gatekeepers of The Holocron, we have joining us ​ ⁨OG StarWars & Matt Wilkins to deep dive & discuss the Star Wars Expanded Universe. We begin our discussion of Agents of Chaos: jedi Eclipse (Book 2 of the Duology) by James Luceno; the FIFTH book of the EPIC 19 book story arc of THE NEW JEDI ORDER.

This was a massive undertaking by Del Rey publishing & Lucas Licensing. The fine details to this massive story, honoring George Lucas & his use of Joseph Campbell's Hero's Journey. After the controversial & polarizing first book Vector Prime; the baton was passed to a Star Wars Expanded Universe veteran from the Bantam Era, Michael Stackpole. James Luceno originally only the architect of the outline and main story arcs ended up writing the Agent of Chaos Duology. We get more Yuuzhan Vong lore expansion in this book as we are introduced to a juevenile Yammosk (War Coordinator) and what the Vong do to groom them for Combat , link them to their Yuuzhan Vong Commander Conterpart and an expansion on how exactly they function. We also meet Yuuzhan Vong FireBreathers which decimate planets. Find out more about the Yuuzhan Vong spy on Coruscant. The Yuuzhan Vong have also formed and Alliance with the Hutts, as Leia goes to the Hapes Consortium to further expand the Galactic Opposition to the Vong. This was another solid entry in the series and James Luceno's 2nd written Star Wars books of many books to come.

The New Jedi Order Series was originally planned as a massive 29 book series, which ended up being settled on as a 19 book series. It broke the norm for the Star Wars Expanded Universe of Standard isolated stories & trilogies. NJO also made the Star Wars Universe a lot more mature & It also rose the stakes significantly. Nobody was safe in the readers eyes; especially after the release of it's first book Vector Prime.

Some time in the near future Disney Star Wars will release their Rey Palpatine New Jedi Order movie or trilogy. Which as all Disney Wars won't live up the the greatness & timelessness of the Star Wars Expanded Universe. As TRUE Gatekeepers do - Here on GATEKEEPERS of the HOLOCRON we will pre-empt Faux Disney Wars & provide the SUPERIOR EU Alternative!
