1074 1 Tim.6.1-10 Contentment in Godliness

Paul contrasts true and false godliness. Real godliness joins right belief and right living, expressing Christ’s life in every condition. Slaves were to honour their masters so that God’s name was not slandered, and believers were to serve faithfully as to Christ. False teachers used religion for personal gain, corrupting sound doctrine. True gain is contentment in God, not riches. The love of money leads to ruin, but godliness with contentment brings lasting peace, integrity, and trust in God alone.
