What a beautiful day!! And a HUGE bass make it even better : )

Fishing the banks is easier than from a boat since you can set your location and not have to worry about the cast drifting in the wind or the boat.

Today God was merciful. I learned some things about bass from Dale who is a kayak bass fishing pro. Today's catch is to his credit. I changed my technique for setting a hook.

It's hard to explain, but the fish needs to really actually have the hook in the mouth and sometimes they just have the tail end of the lure. My mistake is to not let the bass suck the lure into the back of the mouth. I was pulling to set the hook too soon.

Well today I let the fish run with it. Honestly I didn't feel it much, BUT I saw the line moving sideways and I knew it was deep in the bass mouth. So I then dropped the rod tip down and reeled in all the slack and YANKED UP really hard.

BINGO! It set the hook and I reel in a nice one. FISH ON!!
