1880s–1900s Washington D.C. & Business Ephemera Collection — Handwritten Freight Orders, Street Committee Resolution, and $2,500 Bank Check. www.oldpaperguy.com

A fine four-piece lot of original 19th- to early 20th-century business and municipal manuscripts, including:

1905 Washington, D.C. Check — Farmers & Mechanics National Bank, Georgetown branch, made out for $2,500 and signed by C.B. Rheem, listing President S. Thomas Brown and other directors. Ornate engraving and attractive penmanship representative of turn-of-the-century Washington finance.

19th-Century City Resolution Manuscript — Handwritten municipal appropriation record authorizing $500 for street improvements under the direction of the Fruit Street Committee. Beautiful brown ink script on lined paper.

1886 Shipping Manifest Letter — Dated Oct. 5, 1886, from S.T. Harris to Messrs. Ferris & Smith, listing eggs, oysters, and milk, with the note “all in good order,” reflecting early freight logistics.

1887 Order Letter — From Levilson & Williams, dated Jan. 13, 1887, requesting butter, cream cans, and a refrigerator to be shipped on “first freight.” A fine example of 19th-century perishable goods trade correspondence.
