🕊️ In 1947, the UN carved up the British Mandate of Palestine into two: one Arab, one Jewish. The intent was peace. The outcome was displacement.

📜 By May 1948, the British withdrew, Israel declared independence, and Truman recognized the new state within minutes — the first world leader to do so. Some called it moral clarity. Others, political convenience.

💬 Later, Truman admitted: “You can’t move 5 or 6 million people out of a country and fill it up with 5 or 6 million more and expect both sets of them to be pleased.” That line says it all. The wound wasn’t healed — it was frozen in time.

⚖️ The creation of Israel gave safety to a people without a home — and took home from a people without safety. Both truths can exist. One just gets buried deeper.
