Accident Turns Fatal, SWARTWOUT, October 11, 2025 - At approximately 6:32 pm on October 11, 2025, a blue 2010 Dodge pickup driven by Jack Wilenski, 31, of Splendora, was south-bound on FM-1988 South. As Wilenski was about to pass the intersection of FM-3278, a white 2013 Nissan Altima, driven by Justin Edward Jackson, 17, of Livingston, pulled off of 3278 onto 1988 South and failed to yield to Wilenski. Wilenski swerved right to avoid a collision, but the collision was unavoidable as Wilenski's pickup slammed into the driver's side back half Jackson's vehicle. The impact sent Wilenski's pickup into a roll, while Jackson's vehicle spun around and came to rest on the pavement. Wilenski's vehicle ended up in the grass on the left side of 1988. A Polk County Deputy drove up on the scene right after the crash happened and radioed to dispatch for emergency service. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with The Goodrich Volunteer Fire Department, more Deputies from the Sheriff's Office, and Troopers Terrence Dickens and Sean Barnes with The Texas Highway Patrol. A passenger in Jackson's vehicle (9 year old boy), was rushed by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital where he passed away shortly after arrival. Jackson and two additional passengers were all transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital. Walinski was physically okay. All traffic coming off 3278 was routed away from the accident and 1988 was completely blocked during investigation and cleanup. Jackson's vehicle was recovered by LakeView Towing out of Livingston, while Wilenski's vehicle was recovered by Smith Towing out of Livingston. This accident remains under investigation by The Texas Highway Patrol.
