NT Framework 102 – Ecclesiology

SBC Family,

Tomorrow we will look at ecclesiology. This is the study of the church. The next thing that Christ taught the church was about the nature of the church. This was because it had been so confused throughout the Medieval Ages, beginning with Augustine c. 400 who had started using allegorical interpretation. So, when the Reformers recovered literal interpretation and began to interpret the Bible, literally, they began to see justification by faith was legal and occurred at the beginning of our salvation, and not at the end as Roman Catholicism taught. This led to more little readings of the Bible such as pre-millennialism and Jewish favor in God‘s plan. This will be exciting because we get to see how Christ taught about the nature of the church as distinct from Israel to recover that early doctrine that was discovered earlier in the book of Acts but shunned later by allegorists corrupted by Greek philosophy.
