With Eric Adams out of the race, Andrew Cuomo surges in poll

A new Quinnipiac University poll shows Andrew Cuomo gaining ground on front-runner Zohran Mamdani in the New York City mayoral race following Mayor Eric Adams’ exit.

Mamdani leads with 46% to Cuomo’s 33%, while Republican Curtis Sliwa holds 15%.

Cuomo’s support rose 10 points since the last poll, benefiting from Adams’ withdrawal as both shared a base of moderate, working-class voters.

Despite the momentum, Cuomo remains unpopular, with 52% of voters viewing him unfavorably, and his supporters showing less enthusiasm than Mamdani’s, Politico has reported.

Mamdani, a progressive state assemblymember, continues to dominate with strong grassroots support, focusing on affordability and public services as central campaign themes.
