The Return of Pure Language: The Power of Your Tongue - Tabernacles

Friends, today I want to press into a message that has been burning in my heart throughout this holy season—Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, and now Sukkot. I speak to you as one who has walked through these appointed times with the Lord, who has felt the sledgehammer of hope renewed, the winnowing fork separating wheat from chaff, and the gentle, unrelenting call to deeper intimacy with our God. This is a call to tabernacle—to dwell—with the Lord and to begin to use again the very language by which heaven created the earth.

The Season Is Prophetic: Why Sukkot Matters Now

With Rosh Hashana, we entered a new prophetic year three months before our Gregorian calendar flips. This is no accident. The Hebrew calendar moves ahead of the world's calendar because God operates on prophetic timing. When Scripture and prophetic season align, the atmosphere is thick with invitation: speak in the present tense, walk into the future, and activate what God has declared.

Sukkot—the Festival of Tabernacles—is the last of the high holy days, the culmination of the season that began with the trumpet of Rosh Hashanah and moved through the repentance of Yom Kippur. Sukkot is the time when God tabernacles (literally lives in the tent) with His people. Jesus tabernacled among us in the flesh and now sends the Holy Spirit to tabernacle within us. This is not merely history; it is an invitation for you and me to become the tent in which God dwells.

God Says: "I Know You by Name"

Listen to Moses’ prayer and God’s heart in Exodus 33. Moses asked to know God’s ways and to enjoy His favor, and the Lord replied with a profound promise:

“I will personally go with you.”

The Lord looks upon you and me with favor. We are knitted together in the womb; we are fearfully and wonderfully made. The God who spoke creation into being speaks still, and He has put His Spirit inside us. Hear me: when God says He will personally go with you, He means it. The Presence of God sets His people apart. It is not the building. It is the tabernacling presence in us that transforms nations and shifts the course of history.

The Original Language of Creation—and Its Restoration

In Genesis, humanity spoke the language of the Spirit. This was not merely words; it was miracle-language—language with God-breathed authority. The very life essence of the Word was woven into that tongue. In Babel, man's rebellion caused confusion of languages and scattered people, but God promised restoration. Zephaniah 3:9 declares that He will restore a pure language so that people may call upon the Name of the Lord and serve with one consent.

On Pentecost, the work of restoration began. The early ecclesia received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and the gift of tongues—Spirit-language—restoring to humanity a means by which heaven and earth could speak the same language again. This is not a quaint relic. It is a functioning key to kingdom operation.

What Tongues Are: A Practical Definition

Let me give you a working, powerful definition I received: praying in the Spirit is governing intercession. It is not merely personal edification (though it edifies); it is an activated weapon and authority that fills in the gaps where our human words are limited. The Spirit always agrees with Himself. When we pray in Spirit-language, Holy Spirit prays through us—bringing agreement between heaven and earth.

When the church prays together in the Spirit, it creates unity of purpose, removes personal biases, and aligns the ecclesia with the will of God. Matthew 18:19—two or three agreeing—becomes exponential when the corporate body prays in Spirit-language. The Amplified translation of Matthew 16 reminds us that what we bind on earth must be bound in heaven. Who better to bring that agreement than the One who is part of the Godhead and now lives in us?

Governing Intercession: Keys to Binding and Loosing

Jesus said, “I will give you the keys of the kingdom.” Keys represent authority. One of those keys is the baptism of the Holy Spirit and the activation of Spirit-language. With it you can:

Bind demonic rule and unbind captivity over regions, families, and situations.
Release heavenly decrees that align with God’s eternal counsels.
Create supernatural agreement among born-again ones, forming a unified ecclesia that pushes forward the kingdom.

I've personally watched seasons turn because an ecclesia became serious about Spirit-led corporate prayer. In times of national trouble—when corruption and deception seemed insurmountable—Holy Spirit used the praying church to initiate a turnaround. Romans 8:26 says when we don't know how to pray, the Spirit intercedes with groanings that cannot be uttered. That is governing intercession in motion.

How Praying in the Spirit Functions

Praying in the Spirit does several practical things for you and for the church:

It aligns your heart with God’s mind—removing personal agendas and bringing one-counsel prayer.
It builds confidence and boldness, because the Spirit brings scripture, revelation, and strategies to your remembrance.
It creates synergy in corporate settings—worship, prophetic ministry, and declarations—so words, worship, and prophetic alignment converge for increased effectiveness.

Sometimes I step into the secret place and allow the Spirit to pray. He’ll remind me of a Scripture, give me a phrase, or breathe an authoritative decree. Suddenly, what I lacked in understanding becomes actionable. That's why we must pursue Spirit-filledness—not as a hobby but as a governing reality for an effective ecclesia.

Practical Steps to Activate Your Prayer Language

If you have not yet received or activated your prayer language, here are simple steps I give you as one who has taught and walked in this gift for years:

Ask for it. Acts 2:39—it's for you and for your children. Request the Baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of Spirit-language.
Yield. Yield your mouth and your fear. Sometimes your mind will fight at first; that's normal. Allow syllables to come out without correcting them.
Practice. Begin in private. Let it be gibberish if needed. God cares about the heart’s posture more than eloquence.
Use it strategically. Pray in the Spirit for decisions, for territory, for family, and when you sense Holy Spirit intercession is required.
Combine with scripture. When Holy Spirit gives you a word or a Scripture, declare it in faith in your understanding and allow the Spirit-prayer to fill gaps you cannot articulate.

Remember: you control when you turn on and off your prayer language. It’s an activation, not an uncontrollable possession. You decide to activate it in the grocery aisle, the prayer room, or the living room. God will not shame you for using what He has given.

Resistance and Religion: Breakthrough Is Required

Religion has taught many to distrust Spirit gifts, labeling them as “not for today.” That is a lie from the enemy to keep the church powerless. The minute the body of Christ walks in the supernatural consistently, hell’s plans are frustrated. The enemy will call these gifts counterfeit because he knows their effectiveness. Don't be deceived. The Holy Spirit is your advantage. Use Him.

I bind the spirit of religion and resistance that would keep God’s people from activating their language. We must deprogram lies and step into the full inheritance of our delegated authority. The gifts are for you; the language is yours. Use the key God has handed you.

Testimony: What Happens When the Church Prays in the Spirit

I have seen it in our gatherings: worship rises, the prophetic lines up, and a declaration poured through a leader hits the exact note the people have been contending for—synchronization only the Spirit can produce. In times of national turmoil, when the situation looked impossible, the praying ecclesia partnered with Holy Spirit brought about fruit that seemed unlikely. We saw harvests, transformations, and strategic turnarounds. This is not abstract; it is real.

When Holy Spirit prays through us, He calls up Scripture to our remembrance, gives insight on strategy, and releases supernatural decrees. Beloved, this is how we will disciple nations and see loaves-and-fishes multiplication in difficult places. This is how we will see red seas split and step into promised lands.

A Final Exhortation

Practice. Yield. Pray in both your natural tongue and in the Spirit. Do not let your biases keep you from the fullness of what God has poured out. The Lord says the very best thing He could do for us was to go back to the Father so He could send the Advocate—His Spirit—to dwell within us. This is the feast of Tabernacles come alive: God dwelling inside His people, speaking through us, bringing unity, authority, and creative power to the earth.

Let us step boldly into this season. Begin to use the prayer language God has restored. Allow Holy Spirit to intercede through you. Together, we will carry the kingdom forward. We will bind what must be bound and loose what must be loosed. We will be a people of one mind and one accord, empowered to see the impossible become possible.
