Constable Accused of Rape on Promise of Marriage in Meerut

Meerut (Uttar Pradesh): A shocking case has surfaced from the Brahmpuri police station area of Meerut, where a woman has accused a married police constable Vivek Chaudhary of raping her under the pretext of marriage. The accused, currently posted as an assistant to CO Daulatabad, is alleged to have maintained physical relations with the woman after assuring her of marriage, but later refused to fulfil his promise.

Following the woman’s complaint, a major uproar has erupted within the Meerut Police Department, and the case has now been handed over to CO Brahmpuri Soumya Asthana for a detailed investigation.

According to reports, the incident traces back to a year ago when the constable was posted at the Brahmpuri police station. At that time, the woman’s relative had been detained in a case, leading to her acquaintance with the constable. During this period, the two began communicating, and the constable allegedly developed a physical relationship with her on the promise of marriage.

The woman, a mother of two children, has alleged that when she insisted he marry her, the constable refused and began avoiding her. She subsequently filed a complaint with the SSP, Meerut, accusing him of betrayal.

After the allegations, the constable was transferred to Kankarkheda police station and later appointed as an associate to CO Daulatabad. Investigating officer CO Soumya Asthana confirmed that the case had been looked into earlier, and the woman had then submitted a written refusal to take action.

This time, the constable has reportedly submitted an audio recording to the investigating officer, purportedly featuring a conversation between him and the complainant. Authorities said the audio evidence will be examined as part of the probe.

CO Daulatabad, Prakash Chandra Agarwal, stated that the accused constable is currently on leave, and further steps will be taken once the investigation report is received.

This case has once again raised serious questions about misconduct within the police force and abuse of authority in sensitive situations.
