Bernie Shaw (full name Bernard Shaw) is the lead singer of the British rock band Uriah Heep, a position he's held since 1986—making him the longest-serving vocalist in the band's 55+ year history. Born on June 15, 1956, in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, Shaw started his music career in local bands before moving to the UK in the late 1970s. He previously fronted groups like Grand Prix, Praying Mantis, and Stratus, and was recruited by Uriah Heep guitarist Mick Box after impressing at an audition for his vocal range and touring stamina.
Shaw has sung on all nine of the band's studio albums since Raging Silence (1989), including recent releases like Outsider (2014) and Chaos & Colour (2023). He's known for his powerful, versatile tenor voice that handles both the high-energy classics from David Byron's era (like "Easy Livin'") and newer material. As of October 2025, Shaw remains active with Uriah Heep's current lineup—Mick Box (guitar), Phil Lanzon (keyboards), Russell Gilbrook (drums), and Dave Rimmer (bass)—and recently clarified that their "Magician's Farewell" tour is not a retirement but just a thematic name, with more albums and shows planned.
