"Lucky Man" is a song by the English progressive rock band Emerson, Lake & Palmer, from their 1970 self-titled debut album. Written by Greg Lake when he was 12 years old and inspired by an acoustic guitar riff, the song is known for its folk-rock style and philosophical lyrics about a man who seems to have everything—wealth, fame, and power—but meets a tragic end. The track features Keith Emerson’s iconic Moog synthesizer solo, one of the first notable uses of the instrument in rock music, which became a hallmark of the band’s sound. It was released as a single in 1970 and became their first hit, reaching #48 in the US and #14 in Canada. The song remains one of their most recognized works, often associated with their progressive rock legacy.
