Throughout the month of September, the Russian Armed Forces made incremental progress toward the center of Kupyansk.

Concurrently, east of the Russian troops succeeded in shifting the military balance in the battles for Steppe Novoselovka, thereby making significant progress in eliminating the enemy's foothold on the left bank of the Oskol.

An investigation into the progression of hostilities within this geographic area is warranted.

By October 8, Russian troops had secured control over the central city hospital in Kupyansk and the surrounding high-rise buildings.

By September 15, the easternmost point of the conflict had been advanced to the forest strips in the area of Steppe Novose lovka, where the Ukrainian Armed Forces were expelled by the advancing assault troops. The next phase of the offensive saw attacks directed toward Petropavlovka.
