What to Buy and Experience

The market specializes in seasonal, organic items, making it ideal for sampling Azerbaijani cuisine:

• Fruits and Vegetables: Pomegranates, figs, grapes, melons, tomatoes, cucumbers, and exotic varieties from rural areas like Guba or Lankaran.

• Herbs, Spices, and Delicacies: Fresh herbs (göy for dishes like plov), saffron, cumin, paprika, nuts, dried fruits, jams, compotes, cheeses, and Beluga caviar from the Caspian Sea.

• Other Finds: Freshly baked bread, preserves, honey, and local specialties like fruit leather or vine leaves for dolma.

Vendors often allow tastings, and the air is filled with spices and fresh produce scents. It’s a photogenic spot capturing everyday Baku life.

Hours and Best Time to Visit

Open daily from around 6–8 AM to 7–10 PM (hours may vary on holidays).

Early mornings (6–9 AM) are best for the freshest goods, fewer crowds, and authentic farmer arrivals—perfect in October’s mild weather (15–20°C). Afternoons can be busier with locals.
