Dedicated to my home town of West Boylston, Massachusetts and its people

Inspired by two Twilight Zone episodes:
Walking Distance
A Stop at Willoughby

Walking Distance
from the TIN ICE collection by George Stephen Kelly

Can you still get there from here
Can you return to those years
Can you still get there from here
Seems it's only walking distance

Remember we walked through the woods into
The open fields like yesterday
Wish that nothing had been changed,
Youth untouched, innocence the same
Many lifetimes ago, in spring hope was eternal and the grass did grow
There was so much we did not know, many lifetimes ago

And we remember our old friends, and we want to go back again
Allotment of threescore and ten, how much time's been spent
Many lifetimes ago, when the air was thick, the summer bright with hope
No such thing as growing old, many lifetimes ago

The progress of the seasons seemed so slow, that time stood still
But every year the leaves turned gold, we watched October come and go
Many lifetimes ago, when the leaves did fall upon a country road
We began to see our dreams unfold, many lifetimes ago

All our yesterdays have come and gone, we've seen the darkness, we've seen the dawn
It seems that now you just cannot go home, you've been gone so long
Many lifetimes ago, now the ground is frozen, and it's covered with snow
There's still so much that we don't know, how much lifetime to go

Can you still get there from here
Can you return to those years
Can you still get there from here
Seems it's only walking distance

AI Summary
There’s a quiet kind of magic in this little Massachusetts town — where the autumn leaves blazed like fire on Goodale Street and the church bells marked time like an old friend’s voice. Cracked sidewalks and Roberts Pharmacy, Central Market, nights wrapped in laughter at Goodale Park and the summerhouse, summers that lingered like the last notes of a favorite song. We grew up chasing dusk down tree-lined roads, not knowing how fast it would all become memory. But that town, it’s stitched into every line of who I am.
