Ezekiel 7:2-9 is actually a menacing taunt aimed at Israel as their Day of YAH was approaching; it says, "thus says YAH unto the land of Israel; an end, the end is come upon the four corners of the land. Now is the end come upon you, and I will send Mine anger upon you, and will judge you according to your ways, and will recompense upon you all your abominations. And Mine eye shall not spare you, neither will I have pity: but I will recompense your ways upon you, and your abominations shall be in the midst of you: and you shall know that I am YAH. Thus says YAH ALMIGHTY; An evil, an only evil, behold, is come. An end is come, the end is come: it watches for you; behold, it is come. The morning is come unto you, O you that dwells in the land: the time is come, the day of trouble is near, and not the sounding again of the mountains. Now will I shortly pour out My fury upon you, and accomplish Mine anger upon you: and I will judge you according to your ways, and will recompense you for all your abominations. And Mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity: I will recompense you according to your ways and your abominations that are in the midst of you; and you shall know that I am YAH that smites." These are the threats that the Israelites would comfort themselves concerning and even dismiss by saying the vision "is for many days to come, and he prophesies of the times that are far off;" they were basically saying, "The bad stuff being prophesied will happen to our descendants rather than to us so there's nothing for us to worry about." It's similar to how the gentiles have added sin to sin and oppressed black/Israelite people for thousands of years now deceiving themselves into believing that neither they or their descendants will ever pay for it. "I (YAH) have begun to punish Jerusalem (Yahrushalom), the city that bears My Name. Now should I let you (non-Israelites) go unpunished? No, you will not escape disaster. I will call for war against all the nations of the earth. I, YAH of Heaven's Armies, have spoken!" (Jeremiah 25:29) As Wisdom 18:7-8 says, "Your people (Israel) thus were waiting both for the rescue of the upright and for the ruin of the enemy; for by the very vengeance that You exacted on our adversaries, You glorified us by calling us to You."
