On the day of Pentecost, the Feast of Firstfruits, God poured out His Spirit in Jerusalem just as He promised through the prophet Joel. The sound of a mighty rushing wind filled the house, tongues of fire rested on the disciples, and suddenly men from every nation heard the mighty works of God in their own language.
Peter stood and declared with boldness: “This Jesus God raised up, and of that we all are witnesses… God has made Him both Lord and Christ.” That day, three thousand were cut to the heart, repented, and were baptized — and the Church was born.
