Europe’s Airbus has overtaken Boeing to become the world’s most-delivered jetmaker. The A320 family has reached 12,260 deliveries since 1988, surpassing Boeing’s 737 for the first time, according to reports. Together, the two planemakers have produced nearly 25,000 single-aisle jets. Airbus is now ramping up production, targeting 820 deliveries this year and expanding its assembly lines in the United States and China. Boeing, meanwhile, continues to face setbacks, including safety concerns from the 737 MAX crisis, a 2024 mid-air incident, and the Air India crash, as well as heavy debt and scrutiny over production and trade-linked policies.
