October 7th marks two years since the start of Israel’s genocide in Gaza.

Over this period, nearly 200,000 Palestinians have been killed, according to The Lancet. UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese has warned that the actual death toll may be as high as 680,000, once those buried under the rubble and those who have died from starvation and disease are included.

Entire neighbourhoods have been reduced to rubble. Access to food, water, and medicine has collapsed. Families continue to live amid the ruins, facing daily bombardment and deprivation.

This weekend, people in cities across the world — from Jakarta to Amsterdam, Japan to Montreal— gathered to mark the anniversary and call for an end to the ongoing genocide.

Two years on, Gaza remains under siege, and the humanitarian catastrophe only deepens.
