Monument to the MiG-21PF fighter with tail number "red 37" (serial number 76211025).

📷 The aircraft is mounted on a very unusual pedestal made by the design office of the Tikhvin Enterprises of the "Kirov Plant" association.

The MiG-21PF was donated to Tikhvin in 1981 on the initiative of Aviation Marshal A. P. Silantyev, Honorary Citizen of the city of Tikhvin and the Tikhvin District.

The aircraft was placed at the intersection of Vologda – Novaya Ladoga and Lodeynoye Pole - Tikhvin roads in honor of the aviators who defended Tikhvin during the Great Patriotic War. The pedestal consists of two metal rings - one complete and one incomplete - symbolizing the Siege of Leningrad and the failed Nazi plan to encircle the city on the Neva River with a second blocking ring. For the battles near Tikhvin, the 185th Fighter Aviation Regiment was awarded the Order of the Red Banner and three pilots received the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.
