MACCALLUM: “Let’s bring in Leo Terrell, senior counsel for — to the Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights. Leo, welcome. Good to have you here. What goes through your mind when you listen to Mayor Johnson there and saying that he’s praying for President Trump and that he doesn’t have the authority to send these troops into Chicago?”

TERRELL: “Martha, the mayor needs a government class. He needs to be taught about the Constitution. He needs to know about Title 10. President Trump is doing Chicago and Illinois a favor. He’s removing illegal aliens. He’s taking drugs off the street, and he’s making the streets safer. Promises made, promises kept by President Trump, who is doing the same thing he’s doing in Washington, D.C., in Chicago. And he’s not going to be deterred. President promised the American people that he wants the city and this nation safe, and he has the right attorney general. You saw her today. General Bondi assured Dick Durbin, hey, we’re sending troops there to make sure that the city is safe. And, Martha, this is something else. This is something very important. President Trump is obligated to protect the soldiers and the DEI individuals on that street. He’s required to protect the Border Patrol and those who are trying to remove illegal aliens.”

MACCALLUM: “We’re looking at a live shot in Portland right now.”
