After returning Meredith to her momma, I ran into Edith Downes. She had fallen far. Selling herself and her time just to survive. In such a short time her mind and body ravaged by disease. Of course, now I know what that feels like. She said her son was up in the mines, but prolly wouldnt survive long there.
I rode on up to the mine. Boy was in another scrape with the foreman. Just sick and tired of watching bullies get their way. I took the foreman and another miner to task. Then sent the boy on his way with some money. Bullies. That's what I am. Maybe seeing myself reflected in others is finally hitting me. Turning me inside out. My mind, my heart and my world are turned inside out and all the way around. I am losing myself as I lose my health. Maybe that's appropriate and what I deserve.
