The EU has fined Poland for non-compliance with immigration and asylum policies, primarily through the Court of Justice of the EU (CJEU). In 2020, Poland was ruled to have violated EU law by refusing 2015 migrant relocation quotas. Linked to judicial reforms impacting asylum cases, Poland faced €1 million daily fines (2021–2023, later €500,000/day), totaling ~€360 million, deducted from EU funds. In February 2025, a €320 million lump-sum fine was upheld. Potential future fines under the 2026 Migration Pact loom (~€20,000 per refused migrant) if Poland continues rejecting EU solidarity mechanisms.
