Senate Convenes As Government Shutdown Continues On Seventh Day - October 7, 2025

The Senate convened Tuesday with the government shutdown in its seventh day. The bills fell short Monday of the 60 votes needed for a fifth time. Senate Majority Leader John Thune said the chamber will continue voting on the same competing bills over and over.
