HBCU and Egotism
Certain disciplines form the bedrock of character and success—things like committing to hard work, meeting deadlines without excuse, and cultivating a sense of accountability that turns potential into achievement. These aren't mere habits; they're the quiet revolutions of the soul that build resilience against chaos and mediocrity. Yet, what unfolded at that historically Black college went far beyond youthful folly or a fleeting lapse in judgment. It was a calculated plunge into darkness: a brazen act of criminal intimidation laced with terrorist threats that echoed with malice and disregard for human dignity.Bomb scares rippled across campuses like Hampton University, Alabama State, and Virginia State just last month, forcing lockdowns, class cancellations, and a chilling wave of fear that no student or faculty should endure. These weren't pranks born of boredom; they were deliberate assaults on safety and sanity, designed to terrorize and divide. In a place meant to uplift and empower, such venom reveals a deeper rot—not just in the perpetrators, but in a culture that too often excuses unchecked rage as "passion" or "frustration," ignoring how it festers from unresolved inner conflicts and a profound absence of self-mastery.Of course, families foot a portion of the bill for these institutions, pouring their hopes and hard-earned dollars into dreams of a better future. But let's not forget the lion's share: tuition and operations subsidized heavily by taxpayer dollars, making these colleges public trusts beholden to the highest standards of civility and order. To tolerate such barbarism— this social squalor masquerading as rebellion—is to betray that trust, to let the weeds of anarchy choke out the garden of growth. Institutions like these must rise as fortresses of true discipline, not just enforcing rules but igniting the fire of moral clarity within each soul. They should demand more than compliance; they must foster the kind of inner fortitude that confronts anger at its root, transforms resentment into resolve, and chooses light over the shadows of destruction. Only then can they honor their legacy, shielding the vulnerable while calling the wayward to redemption. Anything less invites the very storms they were built to weather.
