DoorDash unveiled Dot, a small all-electric delivery bot built to move orders efficiently across neighborhoods. Dot is designed to handle short-range deliveries without taking up road space, with a 30-lb carrying capacity. It’s part of DoorDash’s plan for autonomous, low-emission delivery, reducing congestion and streamlining local logistics. Dot can travel up to 20 mph, navigating bike lanes, sidewalks, and driveways to deliver directly to customers. It’s powered by DoorDash’s Autonomous Delivery Platform, which combines robots, drones, and Dashers for smarter routing. Pilot programs are currently running in Tempe and Mesa, Arizona. DoorDash says Dot will help restaurants, retailers, and local businesses complete faster, cleaner deliveries. According to DoorDash, Dashers will continue to complete the vast majority of daily deliveries, focusing instead on high-value orders that require human judgment and care. Learn more at doordash.com
