We’re not a food consumption facility. We’re not a commercial operation. Tell them we’re working on research — natural research — showing that these animals can produce antibodies beneficial for both human and animal welfare, and it’s proven.

They were very interested in this. They had a five-and-a-half-hour interrogation meeting with us on January 2, asking for all of our science, our research, and everyone we had ever spoken to about it.

At the end of that five-and-a-half hours, I said to them, “Are you just interrogating us? Have you already decided to kill our animals?”
They said, “No, no, no — we’re really interested in your research.”

So, back to the PCR test again in December. When we heard there were concerns about influenza, we were very cooperative. We said, “Okay, no problem — let’s look at it.”

They asked us for two dead birds, so we set two aside for them. Those two birds lay there for 16 to 18 hours on the ground waiting for the vet to come.

And then, to our shock, the Canadian Agency performed PCR testing — an anal swab and an oral swab. We were stunned. We said, “What are you doing? Are you not taking blood? Are you not taking tissue samples?”

Why are you using the highly controversial PCR test on animals — a test you can run at any cycle you want to get whatever result you want?

And when we asked, “Would you please test some healthy animals as well?”
They said, “No.”

That’s when all the red flags went up.
