Four days after illegally arresting her and 500 other Global Sumud Flotilla activists in international waters off the coast of Gaza, Israeli authorities released and deported Greta Thunberg on Monday, October 6.

At a press conference immediately upon her arrival in Greece, Thunberg verified reports of her degrading treatment in prison. As her Turkish comrade Ersin Çelik had testified: “They dragged little Greta by her hair before our eyes, beat her, and forced her to kiss the Israeli flag. They did everything imaginable to her, as a warning to others.”

But in her fiery speech, Thunberg insisted that the world's focus remain on the even more appalling conditions endured by Palestinian captives and by the millions in Gaza who have endured two years of genocide, fully supported by "our own governments, our institutions, our media and companies."
