New York woman charged after more than 200 animals found in home,

A New York wildlife rehabilitator, Samantha Boyd, 57, was arrested after more than 200 wild and domestic animals were found living in filthy, overcrowded conditions in her Northport home, authorities said.

Boyd faces charges of animal cruelty and endangering the welfare of a 95-year-old woman discovered trapped amid debris inside the house.

Her partner, Neal Weschler, 61, was also charged with animal cruelty.

Officials said the home was infested with pests and filled with waste, while animals were kept in unsanitary cages with contaminated food and water, NBC News has reported.

All 206 animals were rescued, and prosecutors said many will soon be available for adoption as the investigation continues.
