Instructor dies in Nashville skydiving incident; 2nd skydiver rescued from tree

A 35-year-old skydiving instructor died in Nashville, Tennessee, after reportedly falling without a parachute during a tandem jump, police said.

The instructor became separated from the tandem rig, while the other skydiver survived after being rescued from a tree with an open parachute.

The incident occurred during a jump organized by Go Skydive Nashville, which expressed sorrow and said it is cooperating with investigators.

Authorities found the instructor’s body in a wooded area off Ashland City Highway, and the FAA is investigating, NBC News has reported.

Skydiving safety data shows fatalities are rare, with only nine deaths out of 3.88 million jumps in 2024, mostly due to human error.
