A shocking incident from Mauranipur in Jhansi district has left an entire village stunned. A 40-year-old woman, a grandmother of two, abandoned her family and fled with her 35-year-old lover, leaving behind her husband, children, and grandchildren in despair.

The case comes from Saywari village under the Mauranipur Kotwali area. Kamta Prasad Adivasi, a hardworking villager, lives with his two sons, their wives, and two grandchildren. But his family’s peace was shattered when his wife, Sukhwati (40), suddenly disappeared from home, taking jewellery and cash with her.

According to the complaint, about two and a half years ago, Sukhwati had gone to work at a brick kiln in Bhind district, where she met Amar Singh Prajapati (35) from Bihuni village in Rath tehsil. Their friendship gradually turned into an affair. When Kamta Prasad learned about the relationship, he brought his wife back home. However, the two allegedly continued their contact over the phone.

A few days ago, while Kamta Prasad had gone to Jhansi for his son’s treatment, Sukhwati took the opportunity to run away with Amar Singh after stealing jewellery and cash from the house. When Kamta returned, both his wife and valuables were missing.

Heartbroken, Kamta Prasad lodged a complaint at the Mauranipur police station. Police have registered a case and begun an investigation.

Speaking to the media, Kamta said, “I never thought my wife would do this. We built our home together. There are small children and daughters-in-law at home, but she didn’t think of anyone. I just want justice.”

The incident has become the talk of the village, with locals expressing shock over Sukhwati’s actions, calling it a betrayal that has brought shame and sorrow to the family.
