MSNBC Turns Chicago Alderperson, Man Running From ICE, & Armed Woman Who Rammed Agents Into Victims

On MSNBC, Chicago Alderperson Jessie Fuentes (D) paints herself and criminals as victims — claiming she was “shoved” and “handcuffed” for simply asking questions inside a hospital.

She said:

“There are seniors, children being dragged out of their homes in the middle of the night, being zip tied — some people taken out naked, U.S. citizens being detained, heads smashed against walls, people being ran over by vehicles. Yesterday, a woman shot by an ICE agent.”

Even if some families were detained, the core fact remains: entering or remaining in the United States illegally is a federal crime.

Fuentes’s focus on emotion ignores that these operations target people who violated immigration law — and her most extreme claims about ICE brutality remain unverified.

Yet MSNBC aired that soundbite without mentioning any of that — or providing basic context.

The “woman shot by an ICE agent” that Fuentes referenced — Marimar Martinez — wasn’t some innocent bystander. She was armed with a semi-automatic weapon and driving one of several vehicles that boxed in and rammed a Border Patrol vehicle outside a Chicago immigration facility.

Federal agents say she was armed and opened fire after she struck their vehicle.

Martinez was hospitalized, treated, and later charged with forcibly assaulting and interfering with federal officers.

Meanwhile, the man at the hospital Fuentes defended was running from ICE during an immigration enforcement operation in Chicago’s Humboldt Park neighborhood.

He fell and broke his leg while fleeing, and ICE agents transported him to Humboldt Park Health for medical treatment — confirming that he was a target of the operation .

Fuentes went to the hospital to intervene on behalf of the man who had been running from ICE, confronting agents and demanding to see a “judicial warrant.” When she refused to leave, she was shoved, handcuffed, and briefly detained by the agents.

MSNBC left out all of that — turning ICE into the villain and Fuentes into a hero.

This is how the corporate media rewrites reality: they highlight emotion, omit key facts, and frame law enforcement as the aggressors for enforcing the law.
