Amid Israel's pause in offensive military activity in the Gaza Strip, the military says a mortar-launching squad of terror operatives was killed in an airstrike, and a separate mortar attack lightly wounded a soldier.

The IDF halted its offensive in Gaza City on Saturday amid a push by US President Donald Trump to reach an end to the war, with troops on the ground only carrying out defensive operations.

In one incident, an Israeli Air Force fighter jet struck and killed a terror cell that was armed with mortars and explosive devices, and had planned to attack troops in Gaza City, the military says.

Another cell launched mortars at soldiers in Gaza City, one of which lightly wounded a soldier. The army says he was taken to a hospital for treatment and his family was notified. Fighter jets then struck the operatives who had been launching the mortars, the IDF says.

In a third incident, the military says Hamas operatives fired RPGs at engineering vehicles of the 98th Division in Gaza City, without any injuries being caused. Fighter jets then hit the building from which the projectiles were fired, the IDF adds.
