This American techie, now living in Bengaluru, has sparked a social media buzz by flaunting his “5-year Indian visa” on 'X'.

His post, which quickly went viral with around 2 million views, mixed praise for Prime Minister Narendra Modi with a cheeky dig at US President Donald Trump.

“It’s official! India is opening its doors to foreign blockchain & AI builders.
I’ve just been granted a girthy 5-year India visa 🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳
Trump says foreigners go kick rocks. Modi says welcome home bhai 🏠,” wrote Tony Klor online.

This comes amid growing noise around US immigration reforms — including President Trump’s proposed H-1B overhaul and a one-time $100,000 fee on new applications for skilled foreign workers.

India had already responded strongly, warning that the $100,000 fee on future H-1B visas — widely used by Indian IT firms — risks disrupting services exports and remittance inflows. The near-term impact is expected to be manageable, but prolonged restrictions will need close monitoring, especially as alternative export markets are still developing, according to the finance ministry's monthly economic report.

In contrast to Trump’s move, India seems to be leveraging this moment to position itself as a top destination for global tech innovation, aiming to compete with the US, Canada, Australia, and China, while clearly encouraging tech professionals in AI and blockchain to visit, collaborate, and invest in its rapidly growing ecosystem.

Tony also received a B-1 visa, designed for foreigners who wish to explore or establish business opportunities in India. According to the Indian Embassy, it’s issued to individuals aiming to set up ventures, purchase or sell industrial products, or explore commercial partnerships within the country.

Now, by looking at the comments section of Tony's post, we found some people commented humorously on it:

One user said:
"Soon indian passport to you 😄😄"

To which he replied:
"Aadhaar first bruh"

Another one said:
"finally, congrats - first time saw an Indian Visa Flex 😂"

Another one welcomed him like this:
"looking at a Indian Visa for the first time !☺️
Welcome!!
1.45 Billion chances to make friends in here😁"

And interestingly, by going through Tony's 'X' profile, he seems to be enjoying his time in India! ☺️

So what are your thoughts on this matter?
