When is Jesus coming back?

In the last few weeks, social media became inundated with people proclaiming that Jesus told them the day He would return to rapture all believers. It all started with one man and continued from there. The day was September 23 and 24, but it came and went without any sign of Jesus.

Christians were mocked, as it was another failed rapture appearance. Those who believed were disappointed. Some people sold their homes and quit their jobs, thinking they didn’t need them anymore as they were going to Heaven.

When Jesus walked the earth, He told us that He would return, but He was very clear that no one knows the day or the hour. Not even the angels or Jesus Himself know when it will be. Only God the Father knows the day. Jesus gave us signs of what to look for, and many of them have already come to pass. He said He would come as a thief in the night and that we should always be prepared.

If someone says that Jesus is coming on a specific day, don’t believe them, even if they call themselves a prophet, for Jesus told us how He would return.

Be discerning. Don’t be deceived.

“But about that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone. For the coming of the Son of Man will be just like the days of Noah. For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and they did not understand until the flood came and took them all away; so will the coming of the Son of Man be. At that time there will be two men in the field; one will be taken and one will be left. Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken and one will be left.” (Matthew 24:36-41)

“Therefore be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming. But be sure of this, that if the head of the house had known at what time of the night the thief was coming, he would have been on the alert and would not have allowed his house to be broken into. For this reason you must be ready as well; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not think He will. (Matthew 24:42-44)

“Now as to the periods and times, brothers and sisters, you have no need of anything to be written to you. For you yourselves know full well that the day of the Lord is coming just like a thief in the night. While they are saying, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction will come upon them like labor pains upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. But you, brothers and sisters, are not in darkness, so that the day would overtake you like a thief.” (1 Thessalonians 5:1-4)

“For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and they will mislead many people.” (Matthew 24:5)

“But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed!” (Galatians 1:8)
