With Halloween Hellscapes XII: Vivisection, Professor Von Spookenstein once again descends into the abyss, this time trading infernal landscapes for the sterile horror of a decaying medical ward. Across ten tracks of dark ambient dread, Von Spookenstein dissects the boundaries between life, death, and the humming fluorescent void in between.

From the opening piece, listeners find themselves strapped to the gurney of his sonic operating table. Mechanical respirations, echoing footsteps, and distant intercom murmurs bleed into layers of pulsating drones and metallic reverberations. Every sound feels deliberate each tone a surgical incision designed to expose raw emotion beneath synthetic calm.

As the album unfolds, the tension becomes suffocating. Clattering instruments, ghostly heart monitors, and the occasional human sigh intertwine to create a sense of inescapable confinement. Tracks like Formaldehyde Reprieve and Ward C: Silence Protocol stand out for their unnerving precision, channeling a cold beauty amid the clinical madness.

Von Spookenstein’s skill lies not only in crafting horror, but in conjuring empathy within it. Beneath the shrill alarms and humming vents lies a mournful humanity, a requiem for the forgotten patients of some spectral hospital. The closing track, Autopsy of a Memory, fades into distant echoes, leaving the listener alone in the sterile dark, haunted yet strangely at peace.

With Vivisection, Professor Von Spookenstein continues to refine his dark craft, merging ambient minimalism with cinematic tension. It’s an album best experienced in solitude, under flickering light, where every creak and whisper might just be part of the music.
